TransTech
Summer 2007
Check out the new section of trail in the TransTech commercial area on Gabel Road (just west of 32nd Street West). The trail now provides a connection from 32nd Street West along the internal roadway by Engineering, Inc. and meanders around to connect with the existing trail that skirts along the Hogan’s Slough and by several ponds that were created within this subdivision. Be sure and bring your fishing pole because the ponds have been stocked by Fish, Wildlife and Parks since the trail provides public access. Or if you’re not into fishing, you can bike over for lunch at the Windmill and dine out on the patio while watching the geese on the ponds or the action on the trail. Eventually this section of trail will connect to the trail that Dave Veeder and Scott McRae built off of 24th Street West and also link to the trail through Descro and Stewart Park as well as to head west to Zoo Montana.
Fall 2005
During the summer and fall of 2005, the TransTech Center built a portion of multi-use trail through their commercial subdivision. The project was built with federal CTEP dollars with the local match being provided by the developer, Don Bottrell. This section of trail is part of the public trail network and will eventually link northeast to the trail section through Stewart and Descro Park and to the west, providing the connection to ZooMontana. The ponds and landscaping provide a beautiful backdrop to the trail and the development. With the trail being a public access, the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has stocked the pond with bass, so the public will be able to fish along the trail. It is hoped that the other half of the trail through TransTech will be built during the summer of 2006. This is another example of the development community realizing how the trails can enhance and connect the Billing’s area. It’s great to see the dream become a reality.
