Shiloh Underpass

Summer 2002
Have you been along Shiloh Road recently between Grand Ave. and Rimrock Rd? Now, be sure when you head that way that you keep your eyes on the road so you don’t have a wreck gawking, but the underpass is approximately a half-mile north of Grand on Shiloh by the Big Ditch. In fact if you have the time, check it out on foot.....it's much safer that way.

It is a terrific underpass with a staircase and railing on both sides of Shiloh. After it was first put in, a number of folks called to find out what it was for and what it connected to, and we responded that this was a great planning effort. Shiloh Rd. will be widened to a 4 lane road and the underpass will accommodate a bike and pedestrian crossing without having to deal with vehicular traffic. There was still some subdivision development monies available so the City Engineering Department had a section of trail built connecting the Interstate underpass to 38th St. to provide a safe corridor to walk to Arrowhead School and the ball complex. What a great connection this will make and several people have told me that it is in high use already. So get on out and check it out.
