Famous Dave's
03.01.2003
In case you haven’t been to the new Famous Dave’s Ribs restaurant along King Avenue West, you’ll have to at least check out the new trail segment that they built along their property. This happened when the restaurant wanted to build their parking lot and landscape the property along the BBWA canal. The City of Billings owns a linear stripe of land along this section for the Bannister Drain and Famous Dave’s applied for a variance and encroachment permit so they could use a portion of that land for parking and then be able to landscape the whole area. The City granted the easement, providing the restaurant would also build the bike trail. This created a wonderful win-win situation, as the owner got the additional land they needed and the city was able to get another segment of trail. The concrete path in this area is 10ft. wide and 463 feet long, so it was an additional cost to Famous Dave’s owner, Ryan Restaurants of approximately $15,000. We appreciate their willingness to help advance the trail system and hope that other business owners and developers will see the real amenities that the Billings trail system can provide our community and inspire others to do the same.
