Airport Road
Summer 2009
As part of the Airport Road project, accommodations have been built for the trail system with three bike/pedestrian underpasses so trail users can avoid high speed traffic and grade crossing of the various roadways. The underpasses are located in strategic locations under 27th Street by the junction to Highway 3, under Airport Road in line with Swords Park and under Alkali Creek Road close to the new Aronson Road that connects to Alkali Creek Road. Aronson Road has a trail along the west side of the roadway and Alkali Creek Road has a trail along the north side, although the Alkali Creek Trail currently stops at Black Pine Road. Current plans are to reconstruct Alkali Creek Road around the curve and the trail will be designed as part of the project. But construction of the trail now will depend on the funds available for the road project.
